Interesting encounter with Small Friend

[Preface: Problems can turn out to be opportunity. Problems can return you eternal bliss. This is what author experienced when he was on the way back to home after hectic day in office. Though his journey had completely fatigued him, he has something very special and interesting to share with readers.]

After hectic day in office, I was completely exhausted and was feeling lethargic on a way back to home. Today in office I had to attend couple of meetings with clients and need to make agenda for the discussion. Even after the meeting, I didn’t have time to relax as I was busy in making minutes of meeting and reporting it to my boss. During meeting I got several missed call from my mom and a message too to remind me to come home early to celebrate my birthday. By the time I was ready to leave office, it was already evening Nine O’clock. It was already late since, my Mom would be waiting for my door bell to welcome me to celebrate my Birthday.

Oh, just before leaving office I was informed by my driver about my car’s breakdown and will take about two hrs to repair it. Then, I decided to use public transport in order to make myself available on time at my home where my mom is ready with all the preparations for the Birthday celebrations.

During those days the climate was very hot and humid. Transportation systems were not well equipped with comfortable sitting or standing arrangements and as I heard its ride used to be utterly reckless with awful jerks. Bus service from my office to place near by my home was poor and need to wait long for the bus to arrive. In bus stop I need to wait for about an hour. Finally I got relaxed after I boarded a bus. But on board things was utterly miserable. Unfortunately couple of its windows were broken which allows wild dust to enter inside to make every second of life miserable. I was covering my nose with hanky so that it can filter the air for clean breath. To gaze around was equally difficult. My eye was completely dry and was filled with the layers of sand. When I was noticed by the door mirror of bus I felt difficult to recognize myself. I was disguised for my new appearance which looks similar to an earth digger on the way back home after hectic work. My whole cloth and smarty hair was painted with the color of clay. This travel has discovered my new look which was getting worse and horrible to bear. I was feeling acute embarrassment and was getting sick with mounting headache.

I was getting exhausted and could not stand more. I was looking for someone who can offer me a seat. Looking around I was lucky to find a place, but as I was about to sit, a small child suddenly came and reserved it in typical child innocence way by widening his legs and keeping his hands firm. He looked at my eyes hinting me “please don’t sit here; I have reserved this for someone”. I understood the innocence and fearless language of his looks toward me. In sense of pride, I gave due respect for his act with graceful smile. He in turn replied me with his innocent and blissful smile. I was much relaxed with this lovely encounter with the small child.

He told me that he is coming back soon and requested me not to sit there and also not to allow anyone to take his sit. I ensured him to trust me. Small child looked at me and gave me pleasant smile for honoring his request. He soon came back navigating the way for the old man who was walking with support of a stick. In a majestic way with the sense of pride and confidence he offered the seat to the old man. Old man in return offered his love towards the small child by allowing him to sit on his lap.

Quietly standing aside I was fortunate to witness and learn the sense of Humanity in the small child. The exhibition of the selfless act by small child is Humanity. Many young people like us think of seat for our comfort but there are only few like this small child who thinks of those who indeed need a seat.

Due to crowd in bus I was slightly pushed away from the small child. After they approached to the destination the child stood up generously and came toward me and asked me to have a seat. I felt proud of him and appreciated him for the noble message which he had honestly addressed to me and that was “Honor and Love” towards others.

With this sudden encounter with the small stranger, I realized that knowledge and lesson is everywhere in this nature, in order to learn it we need to create interest among us. Though I was embarrassed with the breakdown of my car and was forced for uncomfortable ride to home, I felt very fortunate to learn the wisdom of humanity from my encounter with small child.
